Race Day - What to Expect

Help open up the track
● Fire extinguishers at corner
● Safety vests at each corner
● American flag raised
● Race number box by white Line Up board

Get ready for practice bring your car to the staging lanes
● Outside lanes for the carts
● Inside lanes for the race cars
● Do your own safety and gear check
Run practice lap for three minutes, max 5 cars on track at once

Kids and parents go to the tower
● Sign the safety waiver
● Pick up a race transponder
● Pay for the race (if you haven’t already online)
● Parents sign up for a race volunteer job (if you haven’t already online)
● Put the race transponder on your car

HEAT RACE- Heat races are typically half the laps of the main race
● Check the white Line Up board for race positions and tape three numbers on your car for
your race position. Tape numbers on hood, tail cone and left pillar.
● Line up with your class in order & in single file.
● Parents of kids who are in positions one through four will be working a corresponding
corner and have a safety vest to wear. These parents will wave their hands if there’s any
wrecks/cautions, check on racers and help push start race cars who are “dead on track”.
● Parents who do not have a kid in the class currently racing on track and have signed up
to work/run that class-make your way to the tower or to the track.

Timing Day
Timing Day is similar to a regular race day but instead of heat races, drivers have an opportunity to set a track record
● Racers go out one by one, one class at a time for a five lap session, average of the fastest
three will qualify you for your main event.
● Take your air filter off
● The tires you qualify on are the tires you race on

Take a break for lunch and then have the pit meeting
● During the break, check the white Line UP board again to see where you have qualified your
main race
● Grab three numbers tape them on your car accordingly
For the Main Event Race
● Lineup with your class, according to race position single file
● Parents of kids in race position one through four will be helping work on the corners
● Parents who do not have a kid in the class currently racing on track and have signed up to
work/run that class-make your way to the tower or to the track.

Good luck and have fun!!
● Parents you may not signal your child during the race

Once you have finished and pulled off the track
● Take your car through the scale house and have somebody else vouch/check your weight
● Top two or three finishers go to tech /leave your car in tech and do not take it back to the pits.

When all classes have finished racing
● Close down the track and top finishers get teched
● Return transponder!!

After everything is wrapped up
● Trophies !!!!!

Where and How do I begin?
● Come to a race day! It's free to watch and the pits are open to everyone!
● Attend an Arrive and Drive event and test out a quarter midget race car
● Start talking to our wonderful families, everyone has extra parts and a ton of
guidance
● Get ready to have a TON of fun and make a lot of new friends!

Buy a Quarter Midget
● Check with other racing families
● Check facebook groups

Buy Safety Gear
● Helmet- correct safety rating
● Fire rated race suit
● Gloves
● Neck Restraint
● Wrist restraint
● 5 point harness seatbelt
● Check rule book for current safety requirements

Buy Other Gear
● Race Receiver for driver/race director communication, Nitro Bee or similar
● Pit cart to roll your car around
● Any other creature comforts- canopy for shade, chairs, etc.

What are the age requirements for quarter midget racing?

Quarter Midget racing is for Boys and Girls ages 5-16

Children can practice starting as young as age 4 1/2 then start racing at the age of 5.

How long does the RMQMA Racing Season last?

The RMQMA race schedule typically runs from April through September.

At RMQMA spectator admission is always FREE!

How much does it cost to race each day?

Race day fees are $35 for the first car and $30 per additional car that your child runs.

IMI Motorsports, located off Summit Blvd and Colorado Blvd, is our Home racing facility. 
When you arrive, simply tell the gate attendant that you are here for Quarter Midgets and they will let you through. Follow the path below to get to our track!
